This spring and summer have been a whirlwind!!! A couple weeks after we returned from Sun Valley, I found out that Paddy Caldwell and I qualified to be the only representatives for cross country skiing at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games to be held in Innsbruck, Austria next January! It was a huge honor to be selected, and I am very excited to get to race there!! It's going to be an amazing experience! Then, after a few short weeks of school, I graduated from SMS in the end of May!
After being home for a while, absorbing the what its like to be a high school graduate, I went to the Eastern REG camp in the end of June. We had a great camp at Hosmer Point, in Craftsbury, VT. It was a full and hard week of training with a really fun group of skiers from across the East, and a fabulous collection of coaches that supported us through the week! Here's a link to a blog post I wrote about the camp for NCCSEF: http://nccsef.org/news/?p=2035
The USST women put together a video contest to promote girls' training groups, so we put together a video at REG camp, here's the link! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbaLToVwTi8
Last weekend, my family headed down to Hanover, NH to participate in the annual Prouty Bike Ride for the Norris Cotton Cancer Center at Dartmouth Hitchcock. The event raised over $2 million for cancer, and it was a really fun event! I rode 100 miles in a group of 20+ riders, and we had a great ride, despite a crash that took Sverre and his sister Jennifer down at 20 miles to go....they're recovering, but it definitely reminded us all of the importance of wearing helmets!!
This week I'm headed back to Stratton to join the team in the annual Tour of Southern Vermont- a three day volume mini camp involving a 20 mile trail run the first day, a 70 km roller ski the second day and a 60 mile bike on the third day...it'll be a really fun time to train back with the group!!
Meanwhile I've been working and training in Keene Valley, NY, enjoying the mountains and other summer activities the Adirondacks have to offer!
Check back soon for pictures!
