Yesterday's 5km skate race was the final race counting towards qualifying for Junior Worlds and J1 Scando Cup. I knew I had nothing to lose, so I hammered out of the start and hoped to hang on for the whole thing. I was hurting after our first lap, but then there were only about six minutes left, so I managed to push through the pain cave until the end. It was the first skate race where I actually felt like I could hammer the whole thing, so that was definitely a good sign. I've always tended to do better in classic races, so I wasn't expecting to do well in this one, but I ended up 5th junior, first J1. I also tend to do better with less expectations, so that could have been a contributing factor as well. Either way, it was a good race.
After the race, the J1 Scando Cup and Junior World teams were named. Skyler, Isabel and I all made World Juniors, and Cam and Paddy made J1 Trip!!! Now we have the skate sprint tomorrow, and then its back to school for three days before the Lake Placid Super Tour and then World Juniors!!
